Reginas Memories
Eden F
My story with Regina’s isn't just one moment, but a collection of cherished memories spanning from my childhood to raising my own kids. Regina’s is a time capsule. Walking in today, I’m back in elementary school, biking over with my cousins for cinnamon bears and dark chocolate nonpareils, or squeezing every grab bag to find the biggest surprise. I remember buying Easter fudge eggs with my mom and after-school treats with my dad. As a little girl, I dreamed of working here—I couldn't imagine a better job! Those days are long past, but the real joy is watching my own children live them out. I listen to them beg for a quick stop after school, squeeze the grab bags, get Easter fudge eggs with Grandma, and take special trips with Grandpa. I wonder if they’ll dream of working at Regina’s, too. It’s rare to watch your children relive the exact same magic. Regina’s has brought joy, togetherness and delight for generations. Thank you for the legacy and countless memories!

In December 2006 I started a new job at a small non-profit. It was a difficult time for me, as it was the first holiday season after losing my mother, who was the creator of our family's holiday magic. On my first day, my new colleagues and I sat down for lunch and on the center of the lunch table was a large, beautiful box of Regina's chocolates. They told me the director boght a box of Regina Candy every year during the holidays for all to enjoy. I told them I had never had Regina's candy and they gushed "wait til you try it- it's the best". Over the following days, we sat at a lunch table, enjoyed a piece of candy with lunch and share stories of our holidays past & present. It was amazing how that candy invoked so many memories. It really made that holiday season easier and even extra special. Since then, there is not a holiday or special occasion that does not include Regina's candy and it always makes me smile when I am able to pass along that feeling to others.

There I was a little girl of 5 years, I begged my mother to let me cross Cleveland and go to Regina's. I lived on the corner of Berkeley and Cleveland. I had 5 cents for helping my neighbor pick up sticks in their yard. I opened the door and could not believe the glass cases filled with chocolates. I was certain I was in heaven. There was a very kind lady who let me look at every case. Then I finally decided, she kindly said, "Honey, you can always get a caramel- why don't you try a buttercream?". It was so good! And for 70 years I have bought buttercreams, chocolate pumpkins, turkeys, santas, running bunnies and crosses. I live at Hayden Lake, Idaho now but each month when I am in town I stop at Regina's on St. Clair now. Yes, I can now afford a box of buttercreams.

My Husband and I own a cabin in Ontario, Canada. All around the property we have garden gnomes - probably 20 & hiding among the tree stumps in the bushes. When our grandchildren visit, the gnomes love to leave surprise "gnome coins" ( AKA chocolate gold coins from Reginas ) in the morning. Every morning, when they kids wake up, they run outside so excited to search for their special morning treat waiting by the gnomes.

When my son Isiah Sullivan was in grade school at Nativity he often stopped by Regina's on his way home from school. One day, after his purchase, he backed out of the store saying "if anyone asks, I was never here". Emily Leinenger ( former Regina's employee ) told me this story

When two of my grandsons were in grade school, I took them on a tour when Regina's Candies were being made. Mark was so pleasant as he explained to the boys what he was preparing. I just enjoy the friendly atmosphere and the people who work at Regina's. Thank you!

As a kid growing up in Mac Groveland and who attended Groveland Park Elementary, I remember walking over on weekends atfter school, on special occasions. But my favorite memory was the tours. Every year as a kid after the highland trick or treating I remember rushing over to attend the tour while still in my costume with my parents and brother and getting the hair nets and being fascinated by how everything worked.

Every holiday since I was 5 has included something very special from Regina's. I am now 75. My stepdaughter of 34 years now shares this tradition. One Easter we bought the 1 1/2 foot tall solid chocolate bunny for one of the stepdaughters. To this day ( she is now 39 ) she says it was the best present she every received. Tiesan Tap ( 1000 thanks in Danish ) for all of you over the years, for keeping the traditions, and for making life oh so much sweeter ( not just the sugar! )

When I was in grade school I would walk down to Regina's ( the old shop on Cleveland ) with my friends and we would each buy a little bag of cinnamon candy hearts ( the little red hots ) on Valentine's Day! My mom would come here for Easter to get your very special foil creme eggs. We savored them - took a little slice at a time to make them last longer!

The many visits with family as my mom & Pat were best friends for life. The time they tricked my dad with sponge candy with real sponges.

My best friend from high school lived down the street from Regina's. Her family always celebrated the holidays with your candy in their easter baskets and Christmas Stockings. Her parents both passed away so she joined my family for holidays and continued that tradition with my children. My friend died at a young age, but we continue to celebrate her spirit every holiday with Regina Chocolate, especially eggs and glazed nuts. I know my children will continue celebrating holidays with Regina candy!

When i was in 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades, I would pick up my friend who lived on the cornder of Berkeley and we'd walk to Regina's (when it was on Cleveland) and get 4, $0.68, of red hots on our way to school almost every day. We finally moved to chocolates and I've been buying your delicious chocolates ever since 1955!

When i was pregnant and craving fruit slices, my mom visiting from Indiana came to Regina's and said they are my favorite and the biggest pregnancy craving. The sweet woman working went through and found all the freshest, softest pieces for me. It meant the world at the time to make sure I had the best batch possible. Thank you!

When I was younger, my mom had an Avon calender that had a mouse that you would move each day and there was a pocket. She would get Reginas snowmen every year. Each of us would get 1 on our day. I now have the same calender and get to do this with my children! I have done it for 20 years and will continue the tradition as long as I can. I make a special trip every year to Reginas to get those chocolates! Our favorite!

My aunt Pat was dying of cancer and trying to find joy in her last years. She became a clown and dressed up and tried to make others laugh. One Easter, i came into Regina's West St. Paul and she was dressed up like a clown handing out chocolate eggs from a basket. It brought me joy to see her!

I came all the way from California to visit my girlfriend and stopped into this cute candy shop looking for some peanut brittle and to my surprise, Regina's not only fulfilled my desire but it was the best peanut brittle I've ever had! I've told multiple people in California about the illustrious peanut brittle and we will be coming back next year for the state fair for some more of that brittle!

My wife loves the Grecian Mints, so I help by buying a 3# box stuffed with them periodically. She limits herself to one per day--no more (no less, too). Each day is like the first day as they give here so much enjoyment; she revels every day and savors each mint. Thank you for your wonderful mints!
